Retrospective edition: 2026-08-28. Source published: 2026-08-28. Added to this archive: 2026-11-03. This briefing was prepared later from the linked announcement; it was not published on this website on the historical edition date.

Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) released C8gn instances powered by the latest AWS Graviton4 processors, now available in the AWS Europe (Paris) region alongside other global locations. These instances deliver up to 30% better compute performance compared to previous Graviton3-based C7gn instances. They incorporate the 6th generation AWS Nitro Cards and provide the highest network bandwidth among network optimized EC2 instances—up to 600 Gbps—suitable for network virtual appliances, AI/ML inference, and data analytics.

C8gn instances support large instance sizes up to 48xlarge, offering up to 384 GiB memory and 120 Gbps EBS bandwidth. Certain instance sizes support Elastic Fabric Adapter (EFA) to reduce latency and improve cluster communication. The broad regional availability underscores AWS's push to scale high-performance, cost-optimized compute for demanding network and compute workloads.
