AWS Rolls Out G6 Instances for Efficient Deep Learning Inference

Amazon EC2 G6 instances with NVIDIA L4 GPUs and AMD EPYC processors provide doubled inference performance over prior G4dn instances for diverse AI applications.

AI-ASSISTED REPORTING · RETROSPECTIVE ARCHIVE

Retrospective edition: 2026-05-11. Source published: 2026-05-11. Added to this archive: 2026-11-03. This briefing was prepared later from the linked announcement; it was not published on this website on the historical edition date.

AWS made G6 instances available in additional regions including Dubai and Malaysia for use on SageMaker Studio notebooks. Powered by up to 8 NVIDIA L4 Tensor Core GPUs (24 GB GPU memory each) and third-gen AMD EPYC CPUs, G6 instances enhance performance for deep learning inference workloads.

These instances support interactive testing and fine-tuning for generative AI, as well as natural language processing, translation, computer vision, and recommendation systems, enabling customers to run inference with improved speed and efficiency in managed development environments.
